We don't know much, but we know what we like. And there is little doubt that when Rihanna hits big, she hits absolutely massive. And we particularly likes it when she gets all Caribbean roots on us. From her breakout hit ‘Pon de Replay’ through the awesome Trackmasters’ helmed ‘If It's Lovin' That You Want ‘ which appears on our Hot Girls playlist, we’re suckers for Ms Fenty’s sunshine. And so it is with the biggest of them all, the straight up banger ‘Rudeboy’. Everything about it is incredible. The tune is custom made for Rihanna’s Bajan whine and sexy snarl, the production snaps and crackles, the attitude is effortlessly aggressively detached cool, and Ri-ri looks as amazing as sometimes only she can.
But it is the video that really knocks us over. Simple treatment, but the typography and colouration is inspired, recalling in an instant 40 plus years of classic reggae artwork. A peek at our own inspirations in one video, but more just a ray of graphical sunshine. So hit the track, and swim in the rainbow. It's all one love.
