Everybody’s talking about art in the streets at the moment, who’s going to be the next big thing and how graffiti has crossed over from the underground into the art world.
Futura was the first to almost do it in the early 90s when his work was embraced by the Mo’ Wax record label and found a home amongst vinyl collectors across the planet.
In the last five years Brian Donnelly better known as KAWS has definitely done it. His early sketches of his now-famous characters over advertisements in New York City bus stops are being sold for a small fortune, his vinyl companions have quadrupled in value and the waiting list for his paintings is now several years.
So the question is: Who is going to pop next? Whoever you ask will give you a different answer but we think it is without a doubt Curtis Kulig with his trademark ‘Love Me’ graffiti. It’s distinctive, consistent and highly commercial whilst being super cool so don’t say you didn’t hear it here first.
