We already know that there is a rap revolution going on right now on the west coast. And right at the forefront of movements is the Arrogant Veggies crew, cooking up mad flavors and bringing the goodness to your table. Whether the cultural conditioning and marketing magic of the Peas’n’Carrots International movement , the butter flows of MC Casey Veggies, or the beats and pieces thrown together with consummate skill by resident production wiz Monster Potato, all roads in LA right now seem to lead to the door of this collaborative collective of creative minds.
LA native Monster Potato comes from a family soaked in musical heritage, and he has taken the legacy and molded it into his own inimitable style. Equally comfortable with re-working the classic laidback West Coast sound, getting Trap, or devising his own funked-up futuristic hip-hop canvasses, the Monster P is building up an impressive roster of credits, including laying tracks for Casey Veggies of course, but also becoming increasingly in demand from Cali’s finest and beyond. So we stepped behind the desk and offered Monster Potato The Twelve to consider, baked, roasted or mashed, naturally.
1. Who's in the house?
Yo! It’s me Monster Potato live from the kitchen sautéing up some beats ha ha.
2. Can it be that it was all so simple then?
A lot of things weren't simple then and a lot of things aren't simple now.
That's a part of life though, shit ain't always easy.
3. It ain't where you're from, it's...?
It's where you’re headed and remaining true to you and others when you get there.
4. Give me the fortune, keep the fame?
Fuck fame, I wanna be breaded up and remain humble and low key with mine.
5. After the show it's the after-party, and after the party it's the...?
Hotel lobby and after the Belvi then it's probably Cris and after the original it's probably this...
6. It's quite okay for a gangster to wear sandals?
It depends on what kind of sandals, but if they are the between the toe "thong" sandals then
it might be questionable.
7. If I ruled the world?
I couldn't do it by myself. Gotta hire some of the bros ha ha.
8. Do you want more?
Of course. More money, more power, more respect, more work, but sometimes it can lead to more problems.
9. How does it feel?
Shit feels good right now (pause) feels like I’m on the right track, growing and moving forward with my team.
10. What's next on the menu?
I told y'all I was live from the kitchen! I'm cookin’ up shit with my fellow veggie (Casey Veggies),
Dom Kennedy, cARTer, Suga Free, Juicy J and more to come...
11. Give me the reason to want you back?
Because I got that new fresh sound that people need.
12. Tell us why it's all love...
It's all love because I’m not the hater type. Much love to the Twelve Bar fam for the interview, much love to my team (Arrogant Veggies), Peas & Carrots (Josh Peas & Anwar Carrots) and Casey Veggies and much love to the supporters behind the movement.
