We’re not sure about the decision to run Coachella over two consecutive weekends this year, duplicating the line-up and expanding the reach. But we know we, long with half of LA, will be trekking out to the desert for the annual festival of music, pool-side baking, and after-party relay. But who are we most interested to see?
Naturally the headline acts are attention grabbing. Radiohead are phenomenal live and are a must. Dre and Snoop, well, we’ll see I guess, but the inevitable hype will ensure an event at least. But a lot of the real interest is much further down the schedule.
On the Friday the Arctic Monkeys are as late as we may be bothered to stay, but earlier sets from Frank Ocean, Breakbot, SebastiAn, and of course Kendrick Lamar are essential viewing on what is probably the strongest overall day. Ed Banger’s SebastiAn’s new material is phenomenal by the way.
Saturday, of course we’ll be there to the end for Radiohead, but will also arrive early to make sure we catch A$AP Rocky which may well be the performance of the weekend, as well as SBTRKT and Azealia Banks at the very least.
And then to close off we know we’ll remain for Dre and Snoop just in case it is incredible, but will have been nourished by the Weekend, Company Flow, and can’t wait for the JUSTICE set. But special excitement also for Thunder Cat.
So there you have it. Plenty to get excited about, and that’s before we even start looking for the villa with the pool and buying double portions of sun cream.
