We always try to come correct with the playlists, but this week we had a slightly uneasy feeling when compiling the twelve cuts of goodness for you, as if someone was watching us. Maybe it was just the music itself, making up the ‘Paranoid’ selection, a tight selection of tunes on the down low and the shadows, as well as outright classics.
We’ve obviously got Kanye’s massive perky ‘Paranoid’ cut from the sometimes under-valued ‘808s and Heartbreaks’ set, and one of our favorite tunes he has ever put out. You’ll also come across TLC’s monster hit ‘Creep’, simply a legendary song, sitting alongside a blast from the original diva Whitney and her often over-looked ‘If I told You That’ from the ‘My Love Is Your Love’ album.
Another ‘Creep’, this time from Radiohead, the innovators who have formulated and re-shaped guitar music over much of the past 20 years, and are also consistent favorites here, whilst we also take it deep into the UK’s early drum’n’bass years with Metalheadz co-founder Doc Scott and the Wu-sampling ‘The Unofficial Ghost’, possibly the best finish to a playlist we have yet provided you with. And that’s saying something.
You can get more of a breakdown on the rest of the tunes by going to the ‘Paranoid’ playlist page and also downloading so you can enjoy wherever you are. Just keep an eye over your shoulder.
