You may not know his name but if you have grown-up listening to hip-hop there’s no way you won’t be familiar with the distinctive artwork of Eric Haze. He designed the classic Tommy Boy logo, he’s done album covers for Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Run DMC and the Beastie Boys including the legendary ‘Check Your Head’ artwork and he’s worked with everyone from Stussy to Casio to Nike. In fact you could argue that it was his Dunk that sparked the sneaker reselling madness that has taken over the world in the past decade.
We’ve been huge fans of his work for some time as you might have guessed, we were delighted to see him included in the recent Art In The Streets Exhibition at MOCA in Los Angeles and we’re even more delighted that this weekend Known Gallery on Fairfax Ave. are hosting an Eric Haze solo show showcasing all new work by him called New Mathematics. He’s described this show as his “most ambitious yet” and from an early glance this morning we suggest that you pass through and check it out if you have a chance. We guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
