01. Undisputed Truth – Brother Louie
Norman Whitfield’s experimental psychedelic outfit on Motown, this tune is just pure deep funk. Incredible.
02. Stevie Wonder – Big Brother

1972’s ‘Talking Book’ marks the start of Stevie Wonder’s true genius period, and this song shows why. The man himself sang and played every single instrument. Now, that’s just showing off!
03. Res – Golden Boys

An instant classic from the very first time you hear it, and simply one of our favorite songs of all time.
04. Jungle Brothers – Jungle Brother (True Blue) (Terranova mix)

German remix team supreme, Terranova, get their hands on this slept on J-Beez track from 2000 and twist it into an electronic dub champion.
05. Urban Species – Brother

Talkin’ Loud rarely put a step wrong in the early 1990s, and British hip-hoppers Urban Species step correct with this evergreen classic.
06. Cymande – Brothers On The Slide

Formed in London, born in Guyana and Jamaica, Cymande made some of the funkiest music of the 1970s. Unsung rare groove heroes.
07. The Wild Tchoupitoulas – Brother John

Essentially The Meters plus The Neville Brothers plus Allan Toussaint. All this adds up to absolute New Orleans funky brilliance from the Mardi Gras Indians.
08. Palmskin Productions – Like Brothers

The mysterious Palm Skin, DJ and Production house, has touched so much good music it is unbelievable. Here we select one of his tripped out, dub-heavy Mo Wax offerings.
09. The JBs – To My Brother

Schoolly D sampled it on ‘It’s Like Dope’, but the full-length, with its organ brilliance, is the choice. The JBs’ ‘Food For Thought’ LP is essential.
10. Aromabar – Little Brother

The kind of blissed-out soulful beats you’d expect on a Balearic beach, but coming straight out of Vienna, Austria. Exquisitely chilled.
11. Tito Puente – Black Brothers

The Latin percussion master goes all Blaxploitation on this eccentrically brilliant cut. Ridiculously salsa-fuelled funk.
12. Willie Hutch – Brother's Gonna Work It Out

You’ll know it from Dre’s ‘Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat’, but if there is one Blaxploitation soundtrack to check out in full it is Willie Hutch’s ‘The Mack’ from where this full version comes. Work it out, bro.

Good music is the driving force behind everything we do here at Twelve Bar.

That’s why we’ve been digging through the Twelve Bar vaults to pull out our favorite tunes for your browsing and
listening pleasure, and keeping our ears to the ground for what is fresh now and in the future. And then we’re putting
them altogether into a delicious musical gumbo and serving you a fresh bowlful of twelve select tracks every week.
