We recently brought you the James Brown “night train” dance, just one example of the genius of this most pioneering and brilliant of artists. And it struck us that, amongst all the inevitable and generally justified hoopla we have recently seen with the passing of MJ, it was odd how relatively quietly commented on James Brown’s passing was a couple of years back. The music world mourned of course, but considering how seminal a place James Brown has in the history of music, how prodigious and varied his talents, it amazed us how little of a fuss was made. The word genius is over-used, but truly under-applied when it comes to the work and legacy of James Brown. But what the hell, let’s just remind ourselves of why they were both great…
